Fall News ![]() The Art School is being renovated for the coming year! Look for the addition of computers and software, the addition of a Toddler's Class, new faculty, and programs available to the public, as well as a fresh new look and bi-monthly newsletters. The Art School will also be moving all classes to one convenient location, our Vestal Campus, at 801 Main Street. Look for Fall course listings in October and we will be sure to notify you when our facelift is done! Have a great summer's end! Sincerely, Nancy Barno Reynolds Executive Director, The Art School First Friday @ TAS! ![]() The Art School hosted its own First Friday exhibition on August 3, 2007 at our Vestal Campus Gallery. The exhibition featured the talents of students (ages 5-15) from all of the 20 classes taught in our Summer Camp For Kids. Friends and relatives joined the young artists for a reception and enjoyed snacks and beverages provided by The Art School. Nice job artists and teachers! Summer ART CAMP ![]() Summer at The Art School (TAS) was busy in the Summer Art Camp For Kids. Seven instructors, including Susan Fassett, Annamaria Zettlemoyer, Dianne Hodack, Chuck Williamson, Albert White, Eric Goldberg, and Director Nancy Barno Reynolds taught students from ages five to fifteen for two weeks. Week One, Inspired By Nature, included hikes, nature collecting, casting, papermaking, journaling, storytelling and painting for the younger students, while the teen class learned to create florals, landscapes, animals, portraits, and masks using a variety of mediums. Week Two, Inspired By The Masters, concentrated the lessons on various artists and art movements. Watch our video from NewsChannel 34 to find out more! TAS OPEN HOUSE! The Art School celebrated its second year with an Open House on Sunday, August 19th from 1:00-5:00pm. Patrons met artists, listened to music, created artwork, tried out the new computer and took a tour! Instructors displayed and sold their artwork. Musical guest was Ashlee, who entertained us with her own beautiful melodic creations. Look for her at other Art School events. Student Exhibition at The Art School! At the end of April, student’s and family members gathered at The Art School in Vestal for an exhibition of children’s work from Noel Anderson’s Animal Sculpture class. The students learned about the animal they chose, drew several images of the animal, and then built beautiful sculptures of these animals which you can see, they painted as well. In the TAS school gallery in the hall, students also exhibited drawings, paintings and independent work. Refreshments were served and everyone was very proud to show off such painstaking work! Congratulations children! ![]() Free Demo With The Art School’s Chuck Williamson! On May 17th, Chuck Williamson demonstrated acrylic painting techniques at our Endwell Art School Campus. Chuck invited members of the audience to help him paint in order to demonstrate how simply students can learn to create in his class! A lucky audience member got to take the painting home at the end of the demo. If you missed this demo, catch him again in June! Chuck is offering beginning and intermediate courses for adults from May through August at our Vestal Campus and will be teaching in our Children’s Summer Camp. (July 23- August 3) ![]() Stop-Motion Animation Class If you missed Matthew "Chief" Flesher's Intro to Stop-Motion Animation class, click here to see the short animated films created by students. |
